Audition Notice for New June Production

AUDITION NOTICE

For reasons beyond our control the June production of Private Lives cannot proceed, so an alternative play is announced.

The new play is:

No Naughty Bits by Steve Thompson

Playing Dates 15 – 17 June 2017

In December 1975 Monty Phython’s final series was broadcast coast to coast in the USA – the first time on a network station but someone had cut out all the naughty bits.

The play, inspired by true events follows Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam on a reluctant trip to New York to persuade the network to reinstate the cuts. This ends up in federal court in a landmark case to discuss freedom of expression and artistic integrity. The play investigates the nature of comedy, the operation of censorship and the complex misunderstandings between UK and US relationships.

But is very very funny in doing this.
