Cupboard love will feature Sonia Weston and Val Barber.
Doggies will feature Joanna Roskilly and Alison Muir.
Well the auditions are now done and I am very happy to let you know the cast for the Settlement Players June production of the Ladykillers by Graham Linehan.

Professor Marcus : Douglas Harding
Major Courtney : Stephen Charles
Harry Robinson : Glenn Wylds
One-round : Vince Cook
Louis Harvey : Stuart Cocks
Mrs Wilberforce’s friends : Val Barber, Joanna Roskilly, Alison Muir and Claire Hogan
I am hoping to get at least a couple more friends for Mrs Wilberforce before the performance dates but this shouldn’t be a problem as they are non-speaking roles and should be easy to fill.
I am very lucky to be able to direct this cast and I’m looking forward to three months of great fun.
Performance dates are 11th, 12th and 13th June 2015.

Audition Notice
Helen Faulkner is going to direct two short plays for the evening of April 11th at the Settlement.
Doggies
“A hilarious tale about two very different types of dog owner”.
Two owners meet in a park with their dogs (hand puppets worked by the actors) and discuss their differences and the possible result of nature taking its course when it turns out both dogs disappeared underneath the bandstand for a time.
Two females – age indeterminate, one perhaps slightly ‘posh’ the other more ‘down to earth’
Estimated run time 15 mins.
Cupboard love
“Peggy and Jane come to rest after jogging on the seafront. As they chat they find to their delight that they have much in common: both are excellent cooks; both are fighting the flab acquired through preparing rich meals for a new gentleman friend. But when they discover, to their horror, they share a passion for the same man, the two women devise their culinary revenge on the deceiver”
Two women – 50s (suggested)
Run time 15 mins.
Auditions will be held at the Settlement at 2.00pm on Sunday 1st March and 8.00pm on Monday 2nd March.

My Own Show opens on Thursday 19 Feb 7.45 at The Little Theatre, The Settlement, Letchworth…..Here are a few Rehearsal Pictures as teasers before you rush off to David’s Bookshop to buy your tickets……
A chance encounter with a somewhat naïve burglar (Joe) gives desperate housewife Ann the opportunity to escape her hum-drum life and the clutches of her unsympathetic husband and be her own person but can she really trust the man now sitting at her breakfast table?
The Opposite of Claustrophobia by Rob Johnston is a comic drama in one act about a quirky encounter between an axe-wielding housewife and an bungling burglar with more baggage than a herd of elephants and the unusual relationship which develops between them.
Two actors/actresses are required for this play:
Ann – middle aged but could be younger as no age is mentioned. Timid personality, over-anxious, suffers from agoraphobia (fear of the outdoors).
Joe – mid to late 30’s or early 40’s but could be any age as again not mentioned. Bungling burglar, has been sectioned for seven years but is now determined to move forward.
To be presented 11th April at the Settlement. Auditions to be held at the settlement Sunday 8th Feb 2015 at 11am – location tba (meet in the hall and find a suitable room) and Wednesday 11th Feb 2015 at 8pm – location tba (meet in the hall and find a suitable room).
All welcome.
Helen Faulkner.
Audition Notice
The ladykillers by Graham Linehan
I shall be holding auditions for the June production at 8.00pm on Wednesday 25th February and at 3.00pm on Sunday 1st March at the Settlement.
This very funny stage adaptation of one of my all-time favourite movies is written by one of the country’s best contemporary comedy writers.
Cast
Constable Macdonald An upright custodian of the law
Mrs Louisa Wilberforce A lady
Professor Marcus The Mastermind
Major Courtney A con man
Harry Robinson An up and coming thug
One-round The Muscle
Louis Harvey A stone cold killer
Mrs Jane Tromleyton A friend of Mrs Wilberforce
Mrs Wilberforce’s friends At least 6 friends who come to the party
I’m also going to need a few “extras”, male and female, for a short filmed segment.
For Mrs Wilberforce’s friends I need at least 6 actresses of any age who can stay in character and ad lib a bit. You will be making a noisy entrance and exit and will be on stage over two scenes. I do realise that we will have to use make-up and costume to make you look older and less glamourous than you all actually are but you’re actresses and this is the magic of theatre.
I hope that I shall see you at one of the auditions. I’m really looking forward to this one.
Jim Anderson.
The cast is as follows. Many thanks to all those who auditioned.
Calm Woman – Sonia Weston
Neat Woman – Amy Walker
Old Woman – Hazel Jacobs
Girl – Abigail Sage
Man – Graeme Bussey
Boy – Stephen Charles
